Chris Carpenter & Coleman Evans Score Thrilling Wins During 'Christmas in July' at Ohio Valley Speedway
The Ohio Valley Speedway would present the annual Toys for Tots ‘Christmas in July’ event on Friday Night and thanks to many generous fans and racers, Christmas will be extra special this season for those in need because of your efforts. Not only was Santa and the Grinch in the house for Friday’s action but a very racey speedway would see a fantastic night of action with Chris Carpenter, Coleman Evans, Lance Weppler, Jacob Hughes, Blake Tasker and Mack Brookover celebrating in victory lane.
The Las Trancas Super Late Models would hit the track first for their feature event with Colten Burdette blasting out to the initial point in his maiden voyage to the Valley this season. Chris Carpenter would pursue Burdette throughout the early stages looking for an opening to no avail. After a caution flag at the races mid-point, Carpenter would utilize a highside pass on the hammerdown Ohio Valley surface to take over the lead. Once out front, Carpenter of Parkersburg, WV would hold off a challenging and game Zach Hill to collect his second feature win of the season at Ohio Valley. Following Carpenter to the stripe was Hill, a season best run for Tyler Stutler in third with Colten Burdette and Ryan Cline rounding out the top five. Carpenter pilots the Kenny Newhouse Racing/ KN Contracting/ Pro Tech Auto Sales on the #18 blue Kryptonite machine.
Another excellent UMP Modified feature would see Coleman Evans claim his fifth feature win of the season aboard the Evans Construction/ Dirt Disciples Lethal Chassis. This win would not come easy as a race long battle with Jason Brookover would wow fans for the races duration as the pair would race side by side for the majority of the race with Brookover on the high side and Evans working his usual bottom groove to perfection. Brookover would appear poised to overtake the young Evans at one point of the race and grabbed the lead but a caution flag would reset the lineup with Evans back at the point. On the restart Evans would hold off the persistent Brookover and pick up the checkered in a fantastic race as the duo were followed across the line by Kyle Bond, Travis Dickson and Tyler Misner.
Lance Weppler of Marietta, Ohio would pick up his second victory of the season in the Pike Street Lanes Sportmod division. A great field of Sportmods would take the green with some excellent action back thru the field but up front it was all Weppler. Following Weppler to the pay window was Pat Garrett, Wesley Reed, Josh Spaur and Curt Reck.
A strong field of 21 4 Cylinders would take to the track on Friday Night at Ohio Valley Speedway. It was all Marietta, Ohio’s Jacob Hughes in the Bill’s Auto Salvage 4 Cylinder division as the driver of the #5 would score his 3rd win in the last 4 races at the Valley. Following Hughes across the line was Jacob McDaniel with a season best performance, Zack Heasley, Patrick Willbarger and Matt Schofield.
