Chris Carpenter, KC Burdette & Jason Ammons Score Big on Nostalgia Night at Ohio Valley Speedway
The Ohio Valley Speedway swung open the gates for race #5 of the 2022 season as the Ohio Valley Management Group would present a ‘cool’ night known as Nostalgia Night, filled with Dashes, Checkered Flag Victory laps and the return of the Street Stocks. The unique night would see a big Hino Motors Manufacturing Pit Area and a perfectly manicured racing surface that allowed racers multiple lines with Chris Carpenter, KC Burdette, Jason Ammons, Kendall Hodge, Chris Wise, Bryson Long and Joey Miller parking it in the KMA Auto Victory Lane.
It would be Mineral Wells, WV racer Chris Carpenter aboard the Kenny Newhouse Kryptonite going back to back in the Las Trancas Super Late Model feature. The talented wheelman would clean sweep the night as Carpenter set fast time, won the dash and rim rode to the KMA Auto Victory Lane for the second time on the season. Following Carpenter across the line was Harold Redman Jr., Josh Tonkin with a great run to round out the podium, Dustin Sprouse with a fine fourth place finish and TJ Watson would round out the top five.
A very competitive Polymer Services UMP Modified main event would see Parkersburg, WV’s KC Burdette outduel the ‘Southside Flyer’ Kenny Johnson enroute to becoming the fifth different winner out of five races in the UMP Modified division. Burdette would wheel the KC 44 machine past early leader Johnson at the races midpoint and hold off Johnson, last weeks winner Kyle Bond, Coleman Evans and Chad Roush would round out the top five.
Morgantown, WV’s Jason Ammons would star in the return of the Street Stocks at Ohio Valley Speedway. The driver of the 10x machine would take the checkered flag ahead of Mike Martin, Buddy Brogan, Jeremy Blake and Brandon Craver.
Death, taxes and Kendall Hodge in the KMA Auto Victory Lane as the Davisville, WV racer would point the #91 machine to victory for the fourth time in 22’ in the Pike Street Lane Sportmod division at the Valley. The ‘Flattop Flyer’ would best Brandon Francis, Toby Wilson, Pat Garrett and Brandon Lewis to the finishing line.
Another stout group of Bill’s Auto Salvage SCDRA 4 Cylinders would take to the immaculate Ohio Valley racing surface Friday Night with Thurman, Ohio’s Chris Wise grabbing his third win in a row. The pilot of the 6pac would prove to be too much for another Wise as Chris would lead Randy to the line and to the pay window. Following Chris Wise in the Newfast Motorsports/ John Sang Ford/ Parkersburg Liquidations entry was Randy Wise, Jacob Hughes, Patrick Willbarger and Matt Schofield rounding out the top five.
The kids of the Mike’s Auto Body WRA Mini Wedge would kick off the program with 19 future stars looking for that elusive checkered flag and trip to the KMA Auto Victory Lane. Some things change and some things stay the same as has been the story in the Young Guns division it was once again Bryson Long staying perfect and bagging his fifth win of the season. Following Long was Cruz Thomas, Brandon Davidson, Lane Pomas and CJ Craver. In the Veteran division it was Joey Miller picking up his first win of the season ahead of Kaden Sexton, Colin Knox, Austin Taylor and Brody Patton. Miller would become the 4th different winner out of five races so far in 2022 in the Mike’s Auto Body WRA Veteran division.
Be sure to join us next Friday Night, May 27th as the ‘Valley’ will welcome the cars and stars of the OVSCA Sprint Car Series for Round #2 of the season with a ‘Vapors in the Valley’ feature event! Plus the $500 to win Mid-Ohio Valley FWD Championship presented by Sycamore Home Inspection, LLC.
